Gilbert Maurice Hubin

Belgium 1904-1982
Reclining nude, oil on canvas 74.0 x 102.2 cm, signed l.r.

provenance: private coll. Belgium.

The Belgian impressionist Gilbert Maurice Hubin left behind a versatile oeuvre. From his hometown of Dinant he painted landscapes in the Ardennes and around the Meuse, with a lot of attention for the representation of mood and season. In addition, the artist’s flower still lifes, figures and portraits are known. A tendency towards realism can sometimes be discerned in his work, which only prevails in a few performances. The painter exhibited in the Galeries ‘Rubens’ and ‘Mont des Arts’ in Brussels.
